In addition to surgical treatment of the aging face, many non-surgical methods are now available. These can be used alone, enabling patients to look younger and more refreshed, or in combination with surgery.
(Botulinum Toxin Type A) is injected locally into areas of the face to paralyze specific muscles. It is most commonly used to treat the forehead, glabella (the area between the eyebrows), and crow's feet (wrinkles around the outer corners of the eyes), though it is also occasionally used in other areas of the face - for example, to elevate the outer portions of the eyebrows.
Injectable fillers and Botox (or Dysport) are not interchangable. They perform different functions, and may be used separately or in combination.
Dr. Rock performs the VI peel®, which offers terrific results in less than a week, with minimal discomfort. The peel is effective at improving the tone, texture and clarity of your skin, reducing or eliminating age spots, freckles and increased pigmentation (including melasma), and softening lines and wrinkles. It may also improve acne skin conditions and stimulate the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin.
Injectable fillers are used to restore volume and fullness for the correction of deeper folds and wrinkles, as well as to provide fullness and contour to the upper face (over the cheekbones), cheeks and lips. The Restylane and Juvederm® families of fillers include a variety of fillers of different thicknesses and elasticities that are all made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin. They can be used individually or in combinations to fill and reshape the face. Results are immediate and can last up to one year.
Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable material (poly-L-lactic acid) that can be used to restore lost volume in the face, augment the cheekbones and reshape the jawline. The material, which is biocompatible (does not harm the body) and biodegradable (broken down by the body), stimulates the production of collagen. Treatment usually requires a series of 3 sessions, spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart and results last at least two years.
ThermiRF utilizes radiofrequencies to generate heat and cause skin tightening. For facial rejuvenation, it includes ThermiTight minimally invasive skin tightening for the lower face and neck, and ThermiSmooth non-invasive treatments for milder skin tightening and smoothing of fine lines around the eyes and mouth.
Latisse is a topical medication (available by prescription only in Texas). When applied daily to the lashline of the eyelids, it causes the eyelashes to grow, increasing their length.
